Mobility: Up and away!
Row where you want, when you want!
Light & easy to handle, the Bay 21 weighs only 32 pounds with riggers detached.   (Fully rigged, the shell weighs 38 pounds.)  The black anodized aluminum wing riggers take a quick two minutes to attach.

Easily stores, the Bay 21's length fits in most garages and carports.  Its sleek "deck-in" design provides a rigid hull line, conveniently providing support for both upside-down storage & transport on car-top racks.

The Bay 21 was designed by Bill Tytus of Pocock Racing Shells, Inc. and Paul Harvey, President of Bay Shells, Inc. The boat is built to fill the gap that exists between the basic wherry/beginning and the flat water racing single.  The shell is of sturdy construction and has been raced successfully in the Great Cross Sound Race on Pugent Sound, in Commencement Bay, Tacoma, and the Strawberry Festival Race on Vashon Island (all Open Water events).

The shell performs equally well on flat water.   Mary Jane Swingley won the Northwest Masters Regional Championship in the Women's Recreational Rowing Category in 1997 in a Bay 21.

The Bay 21 is 21' 3" long, at the waterline, with a maximum beam of 15 inches.  The shell weighs less than 40 pounds, fully rigged.  An anodized aluminum winged-rigger is used that is quickly and easily detached for ease of car-top carriage or storage.

The Bay 21 is designed for rowers weighing between 135 and 175 pounds; however, the boat has frequently been rowed by scullers up to 220 lbs.

The shell is built in a Glacier White color with either a blue or a red stripe.  Colors are available at $100.00 extra per color.  (It should be noted that colored gel coat is heavy and color will add three or four pounds to the boat's weight.)
